In 2022 Amazon partnered with Venmo by integrating an option that enable users make direct payments for shopped items, it went on like that for over a year until towards ending of 2023 Amazon announces pulling out from this service and will no longer allow payments through Venmo starting from January 2024, this decision cause uproar among United States citizens and a trend till this day because of how awesome both platforms worked together then. Although, Amazon still accepts payments through credit and debit cards from Venmo, but not account-to-account transfers so what’s the way forward now? That will be discuss here on this post before then let’s briefly take a look why Amazon choose to remove Venmo from their payment options.
Why is Amazon no longer accepting Venmo?
None of these platforms “Amazon” and “Venmo” gave official reasons regarding the services discontinuation however, from our perspective or point of view the following may be the reasons:
- Chargeback misused: Venmo have a feature called “Chargeback” it allows user recover funds that leaves their account without consent especially the period when they fell for scam. The rightful owner of the account contact Venmo provided he gives correct answers to all the questions being asked and a chargeback is made from the opponent’s or merchant account. This feature must have been misused and Amazon not okay with it.
- Monetary disputes: Venmo from the complaints we have seen and read online do not usually come in between users transfer, once a scammer lay hold an account and transfer funds out they’ll be no room to cancel such payment and have the money back since purchase protection program introduced by Venmo only secure business accounts not personal accounts.  However, contacting your bank can be effective if you find yourself in such situation. Venmo monetary disputes not handled well can be one of the reason Amazon cut ties.
Amazon no longer accepting Venmo what is the way forward 2024?
- Pay via alternatives: Amazon is a great place to source for anything online and have it shipped down to your address, now since Venmo is no longer in use for payment we believe they’re other available options there as such “Master Pass, Apple Pay and Visa Checkout ” so register an account with this digital wallets and continue your online shopping.
- Pay with Venmo debit card: Amazon no longer working with Venmo has no effects on the use of debit and credit cards for payments, it affects just the account to account direct transfers option only, but you should note that paying through cards attract fees and sometimes user’s debit card may not work effectively unless they used try cards from different platform.
- Shop through friends active dashboard: Some people use Venmo for all their transactions since it is free and supports most platform in the United States thus causing them not to have other means to make payment for items they shopped, so if you’re one of those people kindly use your friends or relatives account to shop temporarily, pending when you will setup your own account on Venmo alternatives.
- Switch to shopping platform that accepts Venmo: Amazon is not the only shopping website on the internet in fact, we have hundreds of them that are good as well. Some of them are “Boxed, Forever 21, Abercrombie & Fitch, Foot Locker” mainly for united state citizens and other European countries, when you choose one endeavor you read through their terms and conditions before shopping through them.
In conclusion, Amazon not accepting Venmo could be temporal both platform may renew partnership in the future since no definite reason behind this sudden attempt, be patient and try the above alternatives.
